Health Unit Promoting Health Issues in Municipal Elections

The Health Units of Peterborough County and City are encouraging voters to consider health care issues in the upcoming municipal elections. The Health Units say that municipalities can have a significant effect on Health Care costs and they have printed a four page document called “Let’s Make Health a Priority” to show how. The document highlights eight priorities where municipal policies play a key role in public health: Food security, Poverty, Alcohol policies, Water fluoridation, Food access, Housing, Air Quality and Active Transportation. Copies are available on the Health Unit’s website www.pcchu.ca or by contacting the Health Unit at 705-743-1000.
