Partridge sworn in as Haliburton County Warden

Haliburton County Council will be led by a new warden for tomorrow’s meeting.

Highlands East Deputy Mayor Suzanne Partridge took the oath of office after being the only candidate to put her name forward for the position.

Partridge says she is only one member of council and that communication will be paramount.

Last week, Partridge attended a meeting with other wardens with former-Warden Brent Devolin and says he will be helping her transition into the role.

County council is made up of the mayors and their deputies of the four municipalities in Haliburton. The county looks after some roads and is a voice for the region on provincial matters.

Partridge will preside over her first county council meeting tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m.

Partridge was the first female to be elected the Reeve of Cardiff and has been serving on Highlands East council since amalgamation in 2001.
