Local health unit confirms flu cases in the area

Hastings and Prince Edward Public Health says the flu season is here.

The health unit says there have been confirmed flu cases in communities and long-term care homes in the area. The local flu season usually peaks over the holidays.

Quinte Health Care hospitals are also seeing more patients coming in to get treated for the flu. As there is expected to be a further-increase in patients at local hospitals in the coming weeks, the health unit says this will mean longer wait times.

If you have severe flu symptoms, like difficulty breathing, you should go to the emergency room. If your symptoms are mild, you are being asked to just stay home and get some rest. – Eat healthy and stay active.

– Get plenty of rest.
