Bancroft’s Mayor is set to address the province about issues facing rural municipalities.
Mayor Paul Jenkins will be heading to the Rural Ontario Municipal Association Conference this weekend in Toronto. The town says this is a chance for rural communities to move forward on shared challenges, foster partnerships, and learn about new beneficial opportunities.
Jenkins will meet with a number of provincial ministries, including Education, Community Safety, Municipal Affairs, and Rural Affairs. He says he will bring forward the message that it’s not sustainable for Bancroft to continue being the regional hub for other communities in North Hastings.
Jenkins says the ROMA conference was where the battle to more evenly spread OPP costs across communities in North Hastings first began. This will once again be discussed during the conference.
Jenkins says he will also use this as an opportunity to address one of the biggest problems that exists in the town of Bancroft.
The ROMA conference runs from Sunday to Tuesday.
