An interim chief of staff will be joining the Quinte Health Care team.
Dr. Colin MacPherson, the current Medical Director and Chief of Psychiatry, will be stepping into the role starting on April 22nd. He will take over for Dr. Dick Zoutman, who will be leaving to become the Chief of Staff at the Scarborough Rouge Hospital. MacPherson calls it an honour.
According to the corporation, MacPherson has a medical degree from Western University, completed his psychiatry residency at the University of Toronto, and has experience in the field. MacPherson says he has been working for QHC for six years, and believes it is on track to having the best community hospitals in Ontario.
MacPherson says focusing on patients is the central part of his new role.
MacPherson says this is an opportunity to think about what kind of leadership QHC needs going forward when it hires a more permanent chief of staff.
QHC says it is currently looking for a permanent chief of staff, which could take six to nine months.
