Environment Canada says North Hastings could be hit with high impact storm

UPDATE 1:

A special weather statement is in effect for North Hastings, calling for a messy mix of snow, ice pellets and freezing rain.

Environment Canada is forecasting these types of conditions throughout the weekend. Meteorologist Etienne Gregoire says North Hastings sits in the middle of two weather systems, so it’s hard to know what’s going to happen this weekend.

Gregoire says there could up to 10 centimetres of snow in the area once the weekend’s over.  But, it could be well over 15 centimetres closer to Algonquin Park. Gregoire says it will be important to keep an eye out for weather warnings if you have to travel, which could change depending on where you are.

Gregoire says Environment Canada will keep monitoring the forecast, and putting out updates as they’re needed.

Environment Canada is forecasting a messy mix of snow, ice pellets and freezing rain this weekend in North Hastings.

A special weather statement has been issued for the area. The weather agency says snow and ice pellets will likely affect the area on Friday and Saturday. Then on Sunday, you could be in for several hours of freezing rain.

Environment Canada is still uncertain how much precipitation will fall, but says this could be a high impact storm.
