Bancroft Council

Bancroft Town Council gave its approval for the Fifth Annual Street Hockey Game in Bancroft for February 14th. Hastings Street North will be closed from Flint Avenue to Station Street from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. This year, the game is being held on Valentine’s Day and what is also “Hockey Day in Canada;” so Hospice North Hastings has partnered with the game organizers. They will open the Village Playhouse for a movie and other activities at noon, then a special dinner will be offered at the Bancroft Eatery and Pub, after which Hospice will re-open the Playhouse for the screening of the movie “Goon.” The evening movie presentation will be an age of majority event, as it will include a bar.

Her Worship, Bernice Jenkins, the Mayor of Bancroft, has declared, on behalf of the council of the Town of Bancroft, that February will be observed as “Heart Month.” The Mayor went further, urging all citizens, civic, social and fraternal organizations and businesses, to give the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario’s “Person-to-Person” campaign their greatest possible support.
