Mayor Jenkins: “you know as much as we do,” Regarding Former Councillor Bill Kilpatrick’s Resignation

At a special Council meeting on Thursday, Council members were asked by constituents that attended for an update on former Councillor Bill Kilpatrick.

Mayor Paul Jenkins said, simply, that he and Council know as much as the public does. He says that when the Integrity Commissioner’s report is made, it will be made public at the same time that it is given to Council. The Town hired the Integrity Commissioner back in March when Kilpatrick resigned. Councillor Wayne Wiggins added that “even if he wanted to keep it (the report), we can’t.” Acting Clerk Lianne Sauter said she doesn’t know when it will be done, but she does expect it to be done before the Municipal election in October.

The Council meeting was attended by five constituents and one asked how the Bill Kilpatrick situation will affect the new model the Town wants to move towards. Jenkins said he doesn’t think it will affect it.

Jenkins said the Town is still paying legal fees. He did not get into specifics on how much is being paid.
