Home and Cottage Sales up in Bancroft Over the Summer

It’s been a successful summer for real estate in Bancroft.

That’s because home and cottage sales are up in July and August in comparison to last year. 76 homes were sold this year, in comparison to the 67 that were sold last year. Cottage sales were slightly up with 39 being sold this year, compared to 31 being sold last summer.

The cost of buying a cottage or home went up this summer too. Specifically in July, where homes cost $352,805 on average, which is up from $233,214 last year.

Dianne Fitzpatrick, President of Bancroft & Area Association of Realtors, says this is what she expected to see. “I’m a little surprised that Bancroft has risen with home sales,” she added.

Fitzpatrick added that she sees the market continuing to be strong through the fall, but tailing off in the winter.
