Aggravated Assault Arrest Leads to Finding of Over 100 Stolen Items

An aggravated assault that has left a man with life-threatening injuries lead to Bancroft OPP finding over 100 stolen items.

In the early morning on September 14th, Bancroft OPP responded to a call at a hospital about a man who was injured in an aggravated assault that happened earlier that morning.

Six days later, Bancroft OPP located the suspects in Haliburton County and executed an arrest warrant. During the arrest they found over 100 stolen items, including guns. They also found over 200 plants of a controlled substance on the property.

As a result of the investigation, two males were charged. A 24 year old male from Harcourt, Ontario has been charged with:

  • Aggravated assault
  • Disguise with intent
  • Trespassing at night
  • Theft over $5,000
  • Produce a Schedule II substance
  • Possession of a Schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking over 3 kg
  • Possess property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
  • Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
  • Possession of a firearm, prohibited or restricted weapon obtain by crime
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Robbery with intent

The other male charged was a 21 year old also from Hancourt, Ontario. He was charged with:

  • Disguise with intent
  • Trespassing at night
  • Produce a Schedule II substance
  • Possession of a Schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking over 3 kg
  • Possess property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Theft over $5,000
  • Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a firearm, prohibited or restricted weapon obtain by crime

The 24 year old has been held pending his bail hearing, while the 21 year old was released on a promise to appear in court in October.

The man that was assaulted was later transferred to another hospital with life-threatening injuries.
