New Doctor Recruited to Join Bancroft Family Medicine Team

The Hastings County Family Physician Recruitment Program has brought a new doctor on-board.

Doctor Parambir Keila has been signed on to the Hastings County Family Medicine Program. In a press release, Warden of Hastings County Rodney Cooney says, “he has stepped up to cover a retiring physician, in addition to continuing to provide emergency coverage at the hospital.” He will practice family medicine under the Hastings County Program.

Dr. Keila has been working in Bancroft for the past five years. He started working part-time in the emergency department, then moved up to become the lead physician at the North Hastings Hospital. “I was approached in March to ask if I could assist with an impending retirement, and not wanting to have the community suffer the impact, I agreed to cover his patient load as of April,” Dr. Keila says.

The Hastings County Family Physician Recruitment Program gives a $20,000 incentive per year for five years to medical students, residents and recent graduates to help offset the cost of their schooling. In return, they set-up their practice in one of the 14 member municiplaities for at least five years.
