Two Hastings Highlands Residents Charged With Impaired Driving Over Weekend

Two Hastings Highlands residents have been charged with impaired driving, with one crashing her car.

The first charge came on Saturday after Bancroft OPP officers responded to a breach of conditions complaint on Highway 127 in Hastings Highlands. Officers went to the scene and stopped a woman driving an ATV to speak with her. While speaking with her, they determined she has been drinking and did a roadside test.

As a result, a 37-year old woman from Hastings Highlands has been charged with:

  • Two counts of fail to comply with conditions of undertaking given by officer in charge
  • Driving while ability impaired by alcohol

The second incident happened the next day when Bancroft OPP responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 127 in Hastings Highlands. While on-route, officers got another call and were told that a vehicle in the same area had crashed. Officers went to that area and found the vehicle involved. After speaking with the driver, they determied he had been drinking and placed him under arrest.

As a result of that investigation, a 48-year old female from Hastings Highlands has been charged with:

  • Driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood

They both had their license suspended for seven days and their cars will be impounded for 90 days.
