M.P.P. Hoping to See Creation of New Hunting Season

Daryl Kramp says the double-crested cormorant “needs to be culled.”

That’s why the M.P.P. for Hastings-Lennox and Addington is working with his constituents to have the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry create a new hunting season for them. Kramp says that they’re getting out of control. “They serve no purpose other than destroying our tourist areas,” he says.

Kramp says he’s personally seen them as a problem for the past 10 to 15 years. He’s seen them move further and further away from the boundaries of Lake Ontario. “They are definitely an invasive species that are getting out of control,” he says.

The MNRF have opened up the proposal for consultation from the public. You can do that on their website. Kramp says he will be lobbying the MNRF personally as well so if residents have any comments or concerns to contact him personally.
