M.P. Mike Bossio Announces Funding For Townships in North Hastings

Mike Bossio has announced that $160,823 in federal funding has been given to North Hastings.

Faraday Township gets $43,680 of the funding, while Limerick Townships gets $35,543 and Tudor and Cashel Township gets $33,200. The funding is for mobile-sensing roads assessments and comes through the Municipal Asset Management Program that’s run through the Federation of Canadian Municipalities. “There are many different areas that I’m focused on as far as trying to bring funding to the riding that will make a difference in people’s lives,” Bossio, the M.P. for Hastings-Lennox and Addington says.

“You have got to have an asset management plan,” Bossio says. He adds that it’s important because it tells you what the current state of that asset is and what needs to be done in the future to keep it up to standard. “Without that, they won’t benefit from the infrastructure investment that’s being made across the country,” he continues.

Small rural communities often find it very difficult to compete with large communities for existing infrastructure funds,” Bossio says. “They often lack the necessary human resources relative to larger communities to successfully brand their need and complete complicated application processes, including asset management plans,” he adds.

Loyalist Township also received $48,400 in funding for a needs assessment for roads and bridges.
