New Council Time And Schedule Approved

The Mayor talked about it on the campaign trail and now it’s being put into action.

Council voted today to approve a new start time. Meetings will now begin at 3 PM instead of 9 AM. Mayor Paul Jenkins has said that he wants to change the start time to allow residents who work to attend. “The goal is to prepare for the future of the Town,” Jenkins said during the council meeting.

The council schedule for next year was approved this morning as well. Regular council meetings will be on the second Tuesday of every month beginning at 3 PM. The full schedule for the year will be:

  • January 8th
  • February 19th
  • March 12th
  • April 9th
  • May 14th
  • June 4th
  • No meeting in July scheduled
  • August 13th
  • September 17th
  • October 8th
  • November 12th
  • December 10th

The Finance and Administration meeting will follow council meetings on the second Tuesday of every month. Infrastructure and Emergency Management meetings will be on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 3 PM, followed by the Community Development meeting. The Community Safety and Well-being meeting will be the 4th Wednesday of the month at 9 AM.

Jenkins went on to say that the goal moving forward is to keep council meetings to two hours. Today’s council meeting started at 10 AM and ended just after Noon.
