The World’s Best Are Coming to Eganville

Snowmobilers are still making those engines roar 45 years later.

Scott Clark, co-race director of Eganville’s Bonnechere Cup, says that some of the world’s best snowmobile racers will make their way to the Sno-Drifters Club this weekend.

Clark says that many racers come from our neighbours down south. They flock over from areas like Minnesota, Michigan, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Wisconsin to name a few.

He says that this weekend will mark their 45th year anniversary and says they’re happy of the impact that the event has had on Renfrew County. He says that it builds up revenue throughout as many of the racers and members of the public lodge, eat and gas up in Pembroke, Eganville, Petawawa, Golden Lake and Barry’s Bay.

“It gets very loud, these snowmobiles sound like a Formula One race car,” he says. There are many races and events and live entertainment and fireworks as well. The Cup kicks off on Friday night and ends on Sunday.
