Town of Bancroft Gets Award For Work Done with Association of Ontario Road Supervisors

Bancroft’s Public Works Manager Perry Kelly was on-hand in Toronto to accept the award.

Bancroft was given a Training and Education Certificate of Appreciation at the Association of Ontario Road Supervisors’ annual general meeting. The meeting was during the Ontario Good Roads conference in Toronto. “It was my pleasure to receive this award on behalf of the Town of Bancroft,” Kelly says. “This certificate of Appreciation is in recognition of our exceptional and positive contribution to organize AORS Public Works training and educational opportunities.”

AORS is a Provincial association that is “dedicated to providing high-quality public services through certification, educational programs and interaction amongst its members,” as said on their website. “They’re (AORS) a big part, in my mind, of every municipality,” Kelly tells My Bancroft Now. He adds that the years of experience and level of expertise they bring to the table is valuable.

“There are all kinds of training opportunities and programs through our association that we use to ensure the safety of our employees and also ensure the safety of our ratepayers and travellers within our municipality,” Kelly says. Going off of that, Kelly mentions that one reason for getting the award was the fact that Bancroft hosts training seminars and invites the surrounding municipalities to participate. He says that way it’s easier and less expensive to get bigger associations involved in the training.

“One of my roles as Manager of Public Works for the Town of Bancroft is to ensure and enhance specific training and education for our Public Works staff,” Kelly went on to say. “I am proud to manage our Public Works crew and from myself and our staff thank you everyone for your continued support.”
