Bancroft Woman Charged After Making False Reports to OPP

A Bancroft resident made multiple false reports to OPP in late 2018 and has now been charged.

The most recent came in December 2018. The 18-year-old woman claimed she had been assaulted at her workplace on Hastings Street South. She also claimed an unknown male had attempted to rob her. She had previously said she was assaulted with a knife and an unknown male had attempted to get into her workplace.

After an investigation, the OPP concluded that those attacks never happened. The female has been charged with three counts of public mischief and three counts of obstruct peace officer.

“We just want to make sure that there was no public safety risk during those times because of those incidents,” Bancroft OPP Constable Philippe Regamey tells My Bancroft Now.

She was released on a promise to appear in Bancroft court in June.
