News Man charged after fatal crash on Highway 28 East SHARE ON: Mathew Reisler, staff Tuesday, Jan. 21st, 2020 Bancroft OPP detachment (Photo credit: Andreas Pandikiu) Bancroft OPP has charged a 38-year-old man from Bancroft after a fatal crash on Highway 28 East. It happened just before 6:30 AM on September 18th, 2019. The OPP report the crash involved a passenger vehicle and a transport truck. The truck driver has now been charged with careless driving causing death and improper brakes on a trailer (commercial motor vehicle). When the crash happened, OPP closed Highway 28 from Detlor Road to Fort Stewart Road while they investigated. The OPP said the driver of the truck walked away uninjured, while 60-year-old Paul Clemmer of Carlow-Mayo Township was pronounced dead at the scene. The man’s court date is scheduled for February 4th in Bancroft.
