North Hastings Community Cupboard to remain open

The foodbank announced through their Facebook page that they will stay open as usual.

On Tuesday and Friday, they will be open from 10 until 11:30 AM, and they will be opening their doors from 4 PM until 7 on Thursday. They will be closed Wednesday.

Seniors will be given priority along with those who have physical disabilities. “Please make space for our most vulnerable community members,” the foodbank asks.

The procedure will be as follows: come to the front door at the foodbank’s HQ on 2 Madawaska Street and wait on the front porch. You will be given a number that represents your place in line. Pre-packaged food hampers will then be given out to those waiting relative to the number of people in your household.

“We will be taking extra safety precautions such as wearing gloves, wiping surfaces and door handles, and wiping down al non-perishable food items,” the foodbank says. They’re asking that everyone that does show-up practice social distancing, wash their hands at home before going to their office, and only come if you’re in need.

The community cupboard’s soup kitchen will not be open until further notice. All Good Food Boxes that were due for arrival on March 18th will now be coming on April 15th. All March orders will be honoured.
