Public Health reports 38 cases of COVID-19 in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties

Hastings-Prince Edward Public Health has added one new case of COVID-19, which brings the total between the two Counties to 38.

This case – and the previous seven – have all been due to community transmission. Public Health reports that since the pandemic began there have been 20 cases of community transmission, 14 due to travel and four because of close contact.

According to Public Health, there are now 209 probable cases of the virus. A probable case if someone who has been in contact with a lab-confirmed or probable case of traveled out of Canada in the last 14 days.

Public Health’s new COVID-19 tracking dashboard says there are between five and nine cases of the virus in North Hastings. That number hasn’t changed from when it was first reported last week.

Public Health has done 1,853 tests as of Monday afternoon. 17 of the 38 people that have tested positive recovered and two people have died. There are 252 pending tests.
