Health Unit Shares Tips for Hunters To Stay Safe From Covid

This Hunting Season, Hastings Prince Edward Public Health is urging hunters to take precautions this year due to COVID-19.
They say that if you chose to take part in a hunting trip with people outside your household, there are some steps you should take to protect you and those around you.  The Unit says to pack supplies to help stop the spread of COVID-19, like cleaning supplies, soap for handwashing, and alcohol-based hand sanitizer. They say to minimize the number of people in a vehicle when travelling to and from hunting sites, ideally with members of your household only.
The Unit also says while at a hunting camp to keep 2 meters between yourself and others, and bring your own tent or trailer if possible. The Unit urges people to limit indoor gatherings to ten people and socialize outside as much as possible. They also urge hunters to avoid sharing items like cigarettes, drinks and cooking utensils. The HPEHU says to clean frequently touched surfaces often and thoroughly. They also say to avoid buffet-style meals and encourage hunters to cook their own meals and wear a mask while preparing and serving meals for others.
Dr. Piotr Ogłaza, Medical Officer of health for the HPEPH is asking all local hunters to take additional precautions this year and to protect yourself and others this hunting season.
