Ontario government votes against paid sick days

The Ontario government has voted against a motion for paid sick days.

That’s despite province wide calls for a new program so essential workers who are ill do not feel undue pressure to go to work.

The NDP motion required unanimous consent.

So far, the Ford government has rejected calls for paid sick leave by saying a provincial system would override existing federal supports.
