Corner Cafe reopening after year-long close

The North Hasting’s Hospital Auxiliary’s Cafe is ready to receive patrons again.

The Corner Cafe will reopen on Monday, June 21st. The Cafe will offer takeout only, and be open between 10 AM and 2 PM every weekday. Co-convener with the Auxiliary Debbie Speck says they will be offering a limited menu but will offer their homemade sandwich, muffins and their $1 coffee. All proceeds will go to help fund local healthcare.

Speck says that this is the first time they will be able to serve food since the first lockdown in March 2020. With the reopening of the cafe, people going to the hospital now have a place to go when they can’t visit people inside. Auxiliary volunteers are very happy to be able to get back to running the cafe, and look forward to seeing people back.

In following COVID safety protocols, plexiglass has been installed at the Cafe and only one person will be allowed in at a time. Masks will also be required.

Aside from the Cafe, the Auxiliary now has a gently used clothing shop to help them raise money, as well as the No Frills Roundup event in July and the Smile Cookie Campaign in September.
