Experience Summer Camp going strong, has available spaces
In-person camps for kids are back and they are loving it, according to Nickie Howie, Youth Coordinator at North Hastings Children’s Services.
The camp has been able to take place with some restrictions this year, and Howie says it is “going fantastic”. The children attending the camp are high in energy, and there has been lots of positive feedback from parents. Howie says some parents have said the camp is the first time that their children have been able to interact with their friends outside of school. She adds that many children letting off steam are tired out by the time they get home.
However, COVID-19 restrictions present some challenges. On top of all the regular mask and sanitation protocols being followed, there are some activities that have not been allowed, like water events with shared items. However, Howie and her team were able to get creative so that the kids can play with water while still following guidelines. Kids have been given water balloons and are being taught how to juggle, so they can play with water and stay safe.
There are still spaces available for the Experience Summer Camp. Howie says that is an inclusive space available for free to any child in North Hastings. For more info, email firstname.lastname@example.org
