Town of Bancroft marks Dress Purple Day

The Town of Bancroft is marking a day for the safety of youth.

They are honouring Dress Purple Day on October 27th. The day was created to raise awareness around child abuse. The Town voted to officially mark the day back in September.

Highland Shores Children’s Aid requested the town mark the day, as they provide support services for youth up to the age of 18. Services include parenting and treatment programs for parents with addictions, mental health and anger management issues. Children’s Aid also works to keep families together, with 97 percent of their investigations providing support to the youth while they are living with their families.

In honour of the day, purple ribbons have been placed around town. They also ask fire and law enforcement officers to wear the ribbon as well.
