Coe Hill resident working on interactive play

A local director is working on a unique theatrical experience.

Mike Fly is the co-director of Alice in Winterland, a Ross Petty Production based out of Toronto. However, due to modern technology, Fly is able to work from his residence in Coe Hill and bring the experience to families in North Hastings.

Fly describes the production as a cross between a live stage performance, a video game and a dream. The show is geared for children and has an interactive “choose your own adventure” component that Fly says can be watched in the comfort of your living room. The production partnered with technology companies that allowed them to use green screen backgrounds to create the stage performance. Fly believes it is as close as you can get to a live experience.

Despite the production being Toronto-based, Fly says he likes working on shows like this from Coe Hill. He says while Toronto is where all the action is at, he’s happy to be able to work in North Hastings, away from the city. Because of modern technology, Fly says he can work on a production like this and take a break by walking through trails and getting fresh air in North Hastings.

The show is taking place on December 18th and 19th. The production can be streamed during that time for $35. Fly says that if you can stream a show from your computer, you will be able to access the show on the Ross Petty website.
