Brighten the Night parade to light up Maynooth on Saturday

Saturday, Dec. 9 will be a bright night in Maynooth.

The Hastings Highlands community will stage its Brighten the Night parade, starting at 5:30 p.m.

The event is put on by the Hastings Highlands Public Library.

Festivities start at 4 p.m., with a tree lighting ceremony with Mayor Tony Fitzgerald at the library.

Also, between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m., people can come to the front doors of the library for hot dogs and hot chocolate and after the parade Santa will be available to families at the attached Emond Hall.

Officials say the parade will close Hwy. 62, between Hwy. 127 and ANAF Road, from 5:30 p.m. to about 6 p.m.

There’s no need to register in advance, but those with floats are asked to come to the Logger’s Field, at 4:30 p.m. if they’d like the float to be judged in a contest, or at 5 p.m. if they just want to be in the parade.
