Drivers can expect to see police Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) programs taking place anytime and anywhere, including on rural back roads and off-road trails, this holiday season.
That from the Quinte Region Traffic Coalition.
The Coalition, which is made up of Hastings & Prince Edward Public Health and several police units, including the Bancroft OPP, is launching its #HomeSafeForTheHolidays campaign.
In addition to increased police presence on the roads, the Coalition will be releasing videos on social media which bust myths about impaired driving.
“Impaired driving – regardless of the substance – is completely preventable and something that we are always on the lookout for,” says Staff Sergeant Jeremy Doolan of Quinte West OPP and Co-Chair of the QRTC.
The Coalition reminds people that they have several options to ensure a safe ride home, such as calling a friend or family member, arranging for a designated driver or staying overnight.
