Upper Ottawa Valley Police will be doing checks for seatbelts and “The Big 4”this Easter weekend

The OPP say they will be participating in a Provincial Traffic Safety Campaign focused on seatbelt use.

They note that all drivers must wear a seatbelt no matter how short the trip is. Young kids must be in a car seat and anyone under the age of 16 is the responsibility of the driver.

The fine for not wearing a seatbelt totals $240 and two demerit points.

Although seatbelt use is the main focus of the campaign, the OPP says officers will be highly visible in the Upper Ottawa Valley area and paying specific attention to the “The Big 4” which, are impaired driving, distracted driving, aggressive driving and not wearing a seatbelt.

The seatbelt campaign will last from March 29 to April 1, 2024
