OPP hosting townhall in Quadeville this weekend

OPP are hosting a town hall this in Quadeville this weekend to address questions and concerns from local residents following a teenager being charged with attempted murder and sexual assault in an attack on a young girl.

OPP spokesperson Bill Dickson says police will discuss their initial theory about the possibility of an animal attack on the 8-year-old female victim.

“And address any possible mis-information that may be out there.”

Dickson says police want to open the floor to talk about what they can and listen to the community’s concerns and questions.

Space is limited.

Dickson says OPP tried to share as much information as they could throughout the investigation, but had to protect the integrity of the investigation.

He adds that right from the beginning, based on the nature of the injuries and the serious life-threatening wounds, police believed it was an animal attack.

That changed Tuesday when a 17-year-old male was charged.

Dickson says police can’t be tunnel-visioned and because someone has been arrested and charged doesn’t mean the investigation is over.
