Jersey Boys coming to Tweed and Bancroft

Tweed and Company Theatre is presenting the Tony and Grammy Award-winning musical Jersey Boys at a pair of local theatres in August.

The true story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons is coming to the Marble Arts Centre in Tweed from Aug. 6 to Aug.10 and the Village Playhouse in Bancroft from Aug. 13 to Aug. 24.

“It’s about how they start on the streets of New Jersey when Frankie Vallie was just 16,” explained director Julie Tomaino. “Through trials and tribulations, they become a huge success and then the inevitable breakup of some of the band. It’s a life story intertwined with all the great music.”

Songs in the production include hits like Sherry, Big Girls Don’t Cry, Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, and December 1963 (Oh, What a Night). Tomaino has directed the production four times, and the music continues to bring out an emotional reaction.

“We staged the finale yesterday and it brought tears to my eyes. I will continue to direct this show until it stops making me cry. It’s the beauty and passion of the story. The music is thing, but the story is just as strong.”

She explained theatregoers will be treated to an expert performance by top-notch performers.

“Caleb Di Pompinio is playing Frankie Valli, and I knew I needed him on this show because he’s so good. Ther other cast playing band members are equally as strong. The four together are stars and are just so good.”

“This is a show we’ve been dreaming of producing for years,” says Tim Porter, Artistic and Co-Executive Director of Tweed and Company Theatre. “It’s a story that blends heart and grit, and it’s packed with incredible music. We can’t wait to share it with our audiences.”

Tickets are available at www.tweedandcompany.com or by calling the box office at 613-478-6060.
