Submissions are now being accepted for Stories of Peace Award

What does peace mean to you?

That is the question being asked ahead of the 2025 Stories of Peace Award.

The Canadian Peace Museum has announced it is now accepting submissions via short videos, or visual art.

The winner will be announced at a ceremony at the Village Playhouse in Bancroft on Sunday Sept. 21 and will collect a $500 prize.

The event runs from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m.

Submissions are open to all ages, and teachers, youth workers, museum professionals, and peace advocates are encouraged to promote participation.

Last year the event received Ontario Culture Days ‘Best In-Person Program’ award, standing out among more than 1,800 province-wide entries.

A poetry reading by Palestinian-Canadian poet Maya Al-Jaber and live music from Liam Kelly was featured last year.

Coe Hill School won the award in 2024 for their video featuring students talking about kindness, empathy, and the need for global peace.

Video entries should be under one minute. All entries should be submitted by Sept. 19. Go to the Canadian Peace Museum website for more information on how to enter.
