Two new suspects arrested in online fraud investigation

Two new suspects have been arrested in connection with an almost year-long online fraud investigation.

Prince Edward County OPP began investigating the case in October 2024, after an individual from Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory lost over $100,000 to the scam.

The investigation has involved the Prince Edward County OPP Crime Unit, the OPP Regional Support Team, OPP Risk Offender Enforcement Unit, OPP Aviation Services and the Winnipeg Police Service.

The two suspects, who were the subject of arrest warrants, turned themselves in to OPP in Toronto on Wednesday.

Both face charges including fraud over $5,000, theft over $5,000, money laundering and participating in criminal organization.

Three other people from Winnipeg, Guelph and Ottawa have also previously been arrested in connection with the case.
