Local fire departments receiving more funding under Fire Protection Grant

The Bancroft Fire Department is receiving another $52,821 under the provincial Fire Protection Grant for the coming year.

The Fire Protection Grant was announced as part of the 2024 budget and was meant to total $30 million over three years, but the government doubled this year’s funding amount to $20 million.

Bancroft previously received $24,691 during the last round of funding.

Other departments set to receive this round of funding include Limerick, Faraday, Centre Hastings and Hastings Highlands.

The Fire Protection Grant is designed to assist fire departments in expanding cancer prevention initiatives and improving response to lithium-ion battery incidents.
