Hastings Highlands offering Miscellaneous Grant, examining alternatives later this year

The Hastings Highlands Miscellaneous Grant Program is currently open for applications.

The municipality says the purpose of the grant is to support not-for-profit and charitable organizations in offering new programs and initiatives.

The total budget available is $7,500.

Last year’s grant recipients included the Bancroft Area Stewardship Council, to assist with their Environmental Youth Summit, and the North Hastings Music Festival.

Municipal Treasurer Tanya Dickinson said under the current strategic plan, council has decided the municipality should re-examine the miscellaneous grant after this year’s program.

In January, council approved a motion to have staff review and report alternative options for addressing funding requests from community groups, to be completed later this year.

The deadline to apply for funding through the current program is March 2.
