11K customers impacted by power outage in Bancroft and region

Hydro One’s power outage map is lit up this morning in Bancroft and area, with thousands of customers without power.

Hydro One spokesperson Bianca Pizzo told MyBancroftNow that Bancroft and the surrounding region are one of the hardest hit in the province, with 11,000 customers in the area impacted by power outages.

The largest outage is a geographical area of more than 130 kilometres north to south, stretching from the Township of Tudor and Cashel to outside Tramore, in Renfrew County.

Hydro One’s outage map says 3,146 customers are impacted by that outage.

Pizzo said high winds and temperature drops have impacted work crews and overnight knocked tree branches and limbs on to power lines.

Crews will be out in full force today trying to get the power back on, she said.

Pizzo said they hope to have power restored this afternoon but it will depend on what crews encounter as they work away.

Anywhere from 28,000-30,000 customers still have no power in Ontario.
