County staff recommend new local partnership to continue warming centre operations

Director of Community and Human Services Jamie Lynne Osmond provided an update to Hastings County Council today on the hybrid warming centre in Bancroft.

Osmond said in her presentation that Grace Inn Shelter was working in partnership with the county to operate the centre, but ended their partnership at the end of the warming centre season.

During the meeting, Bancroft Mayor Paul Jenkins noted that this is the first year the centre has continued operating past March 31.

Osmond said the amount of clients staying overnight at the centre has remained steady since then.

Hastings County staff and Integrity Investigative Solutions have continued operations at the centre since the Grace Inn Shelter partnership ended.

In her report, Osmond recommended that an Expression of Interest be issued to the North Hastings community to find a local organization to continue nightly operations at the centre until March 2027.
