HPE Public Health Elaborates on Lockdown Restrictions

The Hastings Prince Edward Public Health is explaining what the new restrictions will mean for the region.

They say that in terms of the lockdown, the district is considered a part of Southern Ontario. That means that restrictions may only be lifted after 28 days of lockdown. In terms of school, in-person learning will return on January 11th for elementary and January 25th for secondary schools.  Child care services will remain open like the rest of the province.

Dr. Piotr Oglaza, Medical Officer of Health for HPEPH, says there has been an alarming increase of COVID-19 cases over the last few weeks, and it must be brought under control. He says while the measures are difficult, they are absolutely necessary. He’s urging people to stay home and only go out for essentials, medical care and work. He says if everyone adheres to the restrictions, the district can help save lives and preserve the health system’s capacity.
