Tick population likely increasing across county: health unit

Hastings Prince Edward Public Health is working to educate the public on tick safety as it says the tick population is likely growing across the county.

Medical Officer of Health Dr. Richard Schabas reported a suspected increase in black-legged ticks in Hastings and Prince Edward County during Wednesday’s Board of Health meeting.  He says the health unit is working to let people know how to prevent tick bites, identify and remove them.

Public health sends ticks it finds to a laboratory in Winnipeg for Lyme disease testing.  For more information, click here.
