Local schools plan to get parents involved in their children’s learning

The province is giving nearly $10,000 to the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board.

This is to help parents get involved in their children’s education.

One-thousand-dollars will be going towards Maynooth Public School to provide parents with tools to support student achievement.

Birds Creek Public School is using $1,000 to do a workshop on parent engagement strategies to help support their child’s achievement and well-being.

Queen Elizabeth Public School will use $550 to do a workshop about math to support the different ways children learn.

Earl Prentice Public  School is using $1,000 to do information sessions for parents about math strategies to help support their children.

Harmony Public School will use $1,000 to teach parents strategies to support their children’s math learning at home.

Hermon Public School is using $1,000 to teach families about mental health, well-being, and attendance patterns.

Prince Charles Public School will have an information night for parents about children’s mental health using the $1,000 it’s receiving.

Stirling Public School will use $1,000 to run a workshop teaching parents how to engage by providing families with math information and resources to support their children’s learning.

York River Public School is using $1,000 to have an information session to teach parents how they can support their children’s success and well-being throughout high school.

Since 2005, Ontario has invested over $68 million to support parent engagement initiatives.
