Some Kamaniskeg property owners want to be part of Madawaska Valley

The Kamaniskeg Area Property Owners’ Association has officially gotten the ball rolling the possibility of redrawing municipal and county boundaries around Lake Kamaniskeg.

The property owners’ association made their case to council Monday night in Barry’s Bay claiming tax increases and neglected services from Hastings Highlands have left its members looking for better options. Association President Ed Kobylka says most of those in the area of former Bangor Township go to Barry’s Bay for all of their needs due to proximity.

Madawaska Valley’s council stressed both the complexity of redrawing municipal and county lines and the importance of KAPOA contacting Hastings Highlands to establish its intent. Council says in order for a restructuring of the border of former Bangor Township and the Township of Madawaska Valley there must be public, cross-county and cross-municipality consultation.
