Two Richmond Hill men have been fined $4,000 for illegally putting out bait to hunt birds.
It happened at a pond near Cameron Road in Wollaston last October. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says the men were caught putting bait in the pond without permission, and hunting within 400 metres of it.
Each man faces a $1,500 fine for depositing bait between 14 days before the opening day for migratory birds and the close of the season, and $500 for hunting within 400 metres of bait. Both have also had their hunting licences suspended for a year.
