Provincial healthcare funding could help local hospital

Quinte Health Care could address capacity issues with help from provincial healthcare funding.

Manager of Communications and Community Relations Catherine Walker says the province’s 2017 budget has set aside $1.3-billion over three years to address wait times in Ontario’s hospitals.

Walker says QHC hospitals have been facing capacity issues.

There is no word yet how much of the funding will go to QHC.

Walker says the province will also give QHC $500,000 a year in ‘Small Hospital Funding.’

She says the funding will be split between the North Hastings and Prince Edward County Memorial hospitals.
