Madawaska Valley concerned about miscommunication of 911 call

Some red flags are being raised by Madawaska Valley’s fire chief over a miscommunication regarding a 911 call.

Corwin Quade says a resident in the Madawaska Valley called 911 to report a fire and was told by a Belleville dispatcher they didn’t know where the township or Renfrew County was located. He says the resident was hung up on by the dispatcher after being put on hold.

Quade says there was a serious break down in the area’s 911 calls and will be looking into it alongside the County of Renfrew to investigate further.

Due to the seriousness of the issue, council will be asking for a response in writing from the county.
