Yakabuski concerned about impact of seniors on rural healthcare

Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke MPP John Yakabuski says healthcare will have to be ahead of the curve as our senior population grows.
He says long-term care homes and facilities are already having trouble accepting the current influx of seniors in rural communities.

He says serious concerns about the healthcare system’s ability to handle a spike in dementia or Alzheimer’s has also been a topic of discussion.
It comes as recent Census data shows for the first time seniors outnumber children in Canada. According to the 2016 Census, about 30 per cent of North Hastings’ population is seniors.
