E-mail claiming you’ve broken the law could be a scam

If you get an e-mail claiming you’ve broken the law behind the wheel, there’s a good chance it’s a scam.

That’s the message from the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP, which is warning you about an e-mail scam which has surfaced in the area. The title of the e-mail is ‘Your Speed Fine Notification,’ which will include a link which will ask you to fill out a declaration notice within 24 days.

Police remind you to never reply to an e-mail requesting your personal information. You can also report scams to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
