Dog owners being warned to get rid of mushrooms

The Apsley Veterinary Services is reminding you to be on the lookout for mushroom growth in your yard.

This comes after the services says a dog went into liver failure after eating toxic mushrooms, which have had the perfect conditions to grow with all the rain this year.

Although the signs your dog has eaten toxic mushrooms vary, some common symptoms include wobbling, loss of balance, vomiting, salivation, yellowing of the skin, sleep-like comas, and seizures. If your dog shows these symptoms, you are being urged to contact a vet.

Because it can be hard to tell which types of mushrooms are harmful to your pooch, you are being advised to clear all mushrooms in your yard. You can contact local experts on the best ways to get rid of them.
