More elementary students are enrolled in the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board this year than expected.
A total of 10,340 students are enrolled in elementary schools across the local public board, which is 55 more than had been anticipated. This is a year-over-year increase of 167 students.
However, secondary schools part of the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board have seen a decrease of 132 students year-over-year. A total of 4,475 students are enrolled into the board’s high schools this year.
The school board says these numbers are important in order to adjust staff needs and class sizes as required.
