Young adults can quit smoking and win prizes

The earlier young adults start trying to quit smoking, the sooner they’ll be able to succeed.

That’s the message from Hastings and Prince Edward Public Health, which has launched another year of the ‘Wouldurather’ contest. Public health says young adults between 18 and 29 years old can enter the six-week contest, and win prizes by cutting down on tobacco.

There are four categories to enter into: quitting smoking, cutting down by half, or committing to staying away from smoking while partying. Non-smokers and ex-smokers can also enter the contest and commit to continuing their tobacco-free lifestyle.

The health unit says up to 20 per cent of those who take part in the contest will end up quitting. Last year, over 7,000 young adults entered.

The deadline to register is January 28th. Click here to find out more.
